Founded in 1955, the Kingston Trolley Museum is dedicated to preserving the heritage of trolley (and subway) cars that were once prevalent in the United States and Europe. The museum features exhibits, offers various educational programs, and houses eight trolley cars, some of which are restored while others are in the process of restoration. A definite highlight of the museum is the trolley ride it offers on its 1.5 mile track that runs along the Hudson from downtown Kingston to picnic yards east of the museum. The museum moved to its current location at the former Ulster and Delaware Railroad yards in 1983.
