James R. Stephens, a World War I veteran, departed for Brest, France on February 22, 1919, aboard the transport ship Aquitania. As a Sergeant, he served in the United States 366th Infantry Company B, 92nd Division. Born in Alabama in 1893, his mother was Callie Jones. Mr. Stephens is buried in Glenwood Cemetery.
