Founded in 1993, the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History is a large museum dedicated to the history of the surrounding area. The museum features four floors of exhibits that cover subjects such as Native American history and culture, agriculture, industry (in particular the nearby largest open face granite quarry in the world) life around the turn-of-the century, fire fighting, local celebrities like Andy Griffith, and medicine. There is also a Victorian parlor and Model T Ford cars.
