Calico Ghost Town is one of few remaining mining towns of the west founded in 1881 as a silver mining town. It is located in the Calico Mountains of the Mojave Dessert in Southern California. Today this town has been converted into a country park. Walter Knott purchased the Calico in the 1950s and architecturally and restored most of the of the building.
