Starting with a history of the exhibit in the first floor Southwest Elevator chamber, Union Station Stories guides you up three stories through the history of the station and its evolution into its current form. Filled with images and ephemera from its colorful past, the exhibit visits many of the important dates and figures that helped shape the station. In addition to displays of tools and uniforms and removed detritus, walking Union Station Stories will give some amazing vantage points to view both the Grand Hall and the Grand Plaza. The views from these places are often mirrored in historic pictures on the walls providing an eerie historical touchstone.

Looking south out from the large arched windows, the World War I memorial and museum can easily be seen providing a clear shot of "Kansas City's Front Porch."
