A federal style home built in 1818, it is considered Madison's first mansion. James Jeremiah Sullivan gave Indiana's capitol, Indianapolis, its name. His grandson, Thomas L. Sullivan, and great-grandson, Reginald Sullivan, each served as mayor of Indianapolis. The property is owned and operated by Historic Madison Inc. and has a functioning bake-house, garden, several artifacts original to the house and family, and a working loom.
