John H. Kale was born on April 29th, 1897, in Petersburg, Ohio, to Pressly and Lulu Kale. He lived at 15 E. Dry Street, Salem, Ohio, and worked at Mackintosh Livery. He entered service on September 4th, 1918, at Salem and was assigned as a Private, serial number 3856674, to the 9th Company of the 3rd Training Battalion, 158th Depot Brigade at Camp Sherman, Ohio. He developed pneumonia and died on October 25th, 1918, at the Camp Sherman Base Hospital. He was buried on October 29th in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Beloit, Ohio.
