Meadowbrook Park
Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
Now spanning 130 acres, Meadowbrook Park is the result of multiple land acquisitions. It began in 1967 when the Urbana Park District bought 28 acres in southern Urbana from developer M.J. Ennis. Today, the park includes a farmstead, 80 acres of prairie landscape, a playground (PrairiePlay), walking trails, organic garden plots, an herb garden, and the Wandell Sculpture Garden, dedicated in October 1998. Meadowbrook is home to numerous prairie plants such as wild hyacinths, spiderworts, gentians, milkweeds, purple coneflowers, and others.
