The Buffalo Fire Historical Society Museum's mission to preserve the firefighting history of Buffalo as well as teach the public about fire safety and prevention. It features numerous firefighting equipment and related items on display. These include an 1850 hand-pumper; 1865 soda/acid cart; 1907 hose wagon and steamer; 1919 Ahrens-Fox pumper. Various memorabilia are also on display and a new tiller exhibit lets visitors test drive a hook-and-ladder truck. There is also a September 11, 2001 display and a collection of artifacts from the December 27, 1983 propane explosion which claimed the lives of 5 members of the Buffalo Fire Department.
