The Singing Fountain
Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
A newer landmark of the Passyunk Square neighborhood, this fountain was a centerpiece of the Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation's neighborhood revitalization efforts. The fountain's name come from it hidden speakers that once played a variety of jazz hits and legendary crooners like Frank Sinatra and other entertainers whose sound reflected the Italian roots of this Philadelphia neighborhood. The songs that come from the fountain's speakers now reflect a larger variety of genres and the recent addition of the park benches and chess tables adds to the neighborhood feel of an area that was previously home to a service station.
