Constructed in 1851, the central portion of this two-story building replaced smaller courthouse structures completed in 1681 and 1706. Although no longer used today, the twin staircases just inside the front door take you to the entry doors of the old county courtroom, It is still furnished and features marble plaques honoring many of the early leaders of the county, including county clerks dating back to 1658 and the King's Attorney's back to 1648.
On the front of the of the old courthouse veranda are two memorial plaques of residents who died defending our country in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
