This local restaurant and inn is named in honor of Brigadier General Elon John Farnsworth and located in a home that was constructed in 1810.  Confederate sharpshooters occupied the house during the Battle of Gettysburg. The building still has some of the bullet holes from that battle.

There are many ghost walks, tours, and hunts that travel through this house, including the attic and basement.

The Farnsworth House Inn was named in honor of Brigadier General Elon John Farnsworth, who did in a charge along with 65 of his own men.  The original part of the house was created in 1810 and was later built onto in 1833, when brick was added to the original foundation.  This house was used as safety for Confederate sharpshooters during the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.  President Lincoln passed the Farnsworth House on November 19, 1863 on his way to deliver the Gettysburg Address at the National Cemetery.  The owner of the house, Harvey Sweney, wrote to his brother and told him about the most exciting event to have happened there.  

	As the Battle of Gettysburg came to a full blow, Confederate forces invaded and put their sharpshooters at the window in the attic of the Farnsworth House.  There are still original bullet holes and artillery on the South side of the building today. It is said that soldiers replaced one another after being wounded or dead and that blood stains stood an inch deep off the floor.  The house has since then been remodeled and turned into a Bed &amp; Breakfast and restaurant.

	Because this house was used as a place of shelter for many soldiers, it is said that this house is very haunted.  There have been rumors that some people have committed suicide in some of the rooms and that ghosts linger in others where Confederate soldiers died. One of the big places that is suspected to be haunted is the attic of this house. It is said that in the early 1880s a young boy named &ldquo;Jeremy&rdquo; was hit and run over by a carriage in front of the house.  The story says that he was carried into the house and up to the attic where he passed away.  Many people have experienced seeing or feeling &ldquo;Jeremy&rdquo; in the attic of the Farnsworth House.
