The Queen Anne was one of at least five hotels that served African Americans in Memphis during the 1950s. The hotel is listed in city directories between 1951 and 1958 and demonstrates this area's history as a center of Black businesses that met the needs of local citizens and travelers during the era of explicit racial segregation.
