The Toledo Police Museum was incorporated on September 11, 1985 and was originally located on the first floor of the Toledo Police Safety Building until 1994. The museum’s collection then went into storage for almost two decades. On June 9, 2011, the Planning and Research Section of the Toledo Police Department reopened the museum.

Inside the museum, displays cover the history of the Toledo Police Department chronologically. Interactive features for visitors include getting locked in a mock jail cell or having their mug shot taken by the original Toledo Police Department camera. There is also a replica 1948 police wagon, a saddle from a mounted patrol unit, and antique fingerprint and breathalyzer technology.
