The Onslow County Museum offers 15,000 square feet of permanent exhibits that tell the story of Onslow County from its pre-historic beginnings to the present day. Prior to this building's grand opening in 1999, the museum was located in an upstairs portion of the old bank downtown or a small storefront. In 1992, the County Commission agreed to support the museum by purchasing land and setting aside one million dollars for its construction. The museum also offers a research/reference room with materials related to genealogy and local history.
