Backstory and Context

Littleton Teackle was a leading businessman whose company supplied the lumber which was used for the construction of the United States Capital. The family's fortunes reversed a decade after the mansion was complete and the family was eventually forced to sell the grand estate. After many years of being empty or serving as home to apartments, the building was restored and is now operated by the Somerset County Historical Society.
