The Granite Falls Transportation Museum is located in the former home of Andrew Baird, built sometime in the 1790s. Baird was one of the town's original founders. Awarded an NC Department of Transportation Enhancement Grant, it was used to conduct historic restoration, build sidewalks and bike paths, and to obtain transportation related items. The grand opening was 18 January 2007. Along with transportation related items, the town's history is also represented through a variety of displays.

Normal hours are Sundays (except holidays) from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Other times are by appointment.
