Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum
Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Fort Wayne is one of several Karpeles libraries in the country. The organization holds the world's largest private collection of original manuscripts and documents. It was founded by David and Marsha Karpeles in 1983 with the opening of the first library in Montecito, California. David and Marsha established the organization to give anyone the opportunity to access to view and research historic materials for free. There are two locations here in Fort Wayne: the former Church of Christ Scientist building (marked on the map) now called Fairfield Hall; and the First Church of God, which is now called Piqua Hall. In general, the materials at all of the libraries touch on the following topics: literature, music, art, science, political history, religion, and exploration.
