Text-to-speech Audio
This heritage trail was created by the Library of Virginia and commemorates Virginia Women in History honorees from the city of Lynchburg. The Virginia Foundation for Women started the Virginia Women in History educational program in 2000. In 2006, the foundation transferred the program to the Library of Virginia. In addition to heritage trails in Clio, resource materials for Virginia Women in History are available online and teachers may also request materials from the Library of Virginia.

In 2018, the Library of Virginia created the Virginia Women in History Heritage Trail in Clio. With so few monuments and historical markers dedicated to women's history, the trail offers virtual historic markers that are often pinned at locations where the honorees lived and worked.
