The For the Kids, By George Children's Museum was established in 2013 by Jim Castleman, a Berkeley County trustee. The space was designed by local architects Grove and Dall 'Olio. The children's museum uses the more than 6,000 square feet at its disposal to educate visitors on over 300 years of local history.
With popular and interactive exhibits on George Washington an the region's railway history, the museum aims to make learning about the history of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle fun. Through immersion galleries, the museum gives a glimpse of what life would be like in a Tuscarora Native American village, a 1700s log cabin, and an1800s general store. The museum's Pedestrian Bridge also offers views of local railways and Martinsburg itself.
