University Health is located at Hospital Hill is also know as the University Health Center. The medical center is also the successor to General Hospital. And University Health's predecessor was Truman Medical Center. The current president and chief of University Health is Charlie Shields.[2] The hospital has recived numerous awards with Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), The KC Chamber Champion of Diversity Award just to name a few. University Health was formally known as Truman Medical Center. Around 1957 Truman and General Hospital combined and then became teaching grounds for the University of Missouri - Kansas City students. In 1976 the University's medical school and at the time Truman Medical Center joined together.
The Medical center's current president and chief, Charles Shield "joined the system in 208 as chief operating officer of University Health Lakewood Medical Center. He assumed his current role in 2014"[1]
The medical center has evolved and grown throughout the years.
