The Country Club Plaza Extended Walking Tour

New Friends is a bronze sculpture created by American artist George Lundeen. The sculpture was gifted by Miller and Jeanette Nichols to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Country Club Plaza and dedicated on June 20, 1997. The bronze features pigeons flying about as two children (modeled after George's own children, Annalise and Warner) are freeing them from the platform of boxes on which they stand.

New Friends is a life-size bronze sculpture from a limited edition of 36, created by artist George Lundeen. It depicts two children (modeled after Georges own children, Annalise and Warner) freeing pigeons from a stack of boxes in which they stand upon. One bird sits on the head of each child while the others are flying about and perched around them. New Friends is inspired from one of Lundeen's earlier works called Old Friends, which depicts an older man feeding pigeons. The sculpture was gifted by Miller and Jeanette Nichols to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Country Club Plaza and dedicated on June 20, 1997.

George Lundeen is an American artist and owner of Lundeen Sculptures in Loveland, Colorado, established in the mid-1970s. He is a member of the National Sculpture Society and National Academy of Design. Lundeen was a Fulbright-Hays Scholar studying at the Academia de Belle Arte in Florence, Italy and obtained a Bachelor of Art from Hastings College in Nebraska and a Masters in Fine Art from the University of Illinois. His works can be seen in private and public locations throughout the country.
