Description

This 54 mile trail follows the footsteps of civil rights activists' marches from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in an effort to achieve voting rights in 1965. The three marches, led by Martin Luther King Jr., consisted of both black and white marchers who believed in the practice of non-violent protesting. Starting on March 7, 1965, the series of marches ended in a victory with the Voting Rights Act on August 6,1965. The trail is part of Highway 80 and is ran by the National Park Service.
