The Great Plains Black History Museum dates back to the mid-1970s and is now located in Omaha's historic Jewell Building. The museum was previously located in a former telephone exchange building and has also offered exhibits in various spaces throughout the city. The museum has collections and research materials centered on the experience and contributions of African Americans in Omaha and surrounding communities.
