Driving Tour of Pikeville, KY
Description
The county seat of Pike County, Kentucky, Pikeville was founded in 1822 as Piketon before later changing its name in 1850. The city is a regional hub and perhaps most famous for its role in the Hatfield and McCoy feud. Trials related to the feud occurred in Pikeville and several participants of the feud lived in the city which also became the eventual home of the McCoy family. The tour includes architecturally significant buildings, historic homes, local history museums and sites related to the town's labor and railroad history as well as its diverse communities.
