The Adirondack History Center Museum, operated by the Essex County Historical Society, is located in a former 1915 high school. The museum houses 6,000 artifacts comprised of documents, art and other materials and objects related to Elizabethtown's history. The museum features permanent exhibits and offers special events such as lectures, performances, and workshops. The grounds feature a Colonial garden, sugar house, an adirondack lean-to, and fire tower. There is also a research library that was founded in 1959.
