Hanna Hall is the oldest building on the Waynesburg University campus. Built in 1850, the building was named after Reverend William Hanna in the year 1902. The college started within this building. For this and other reasons, it was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Next to Hanna Hall lies the John T Cusick Memorial Court which was dedicated in 1999.
Miller Hall sits in the heart of Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania in Greene County. In the 1870s, Waynesburg University was in need of a new building for the growing college. With the support of trustees and the passionate support of Alfred Brashear Miller, the college's president from 1859 to 1899, Miller Hall was born. With the donation of land west of Hanna Hall, by Ezra M. Sayers, the plans for the new architecture were approved and put into motion by trustees in 1874. Miller Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Sites in 1977.
Benedum Hall in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, stands today as Waynesburg University’s Dining Hall and Fine Arts Center. Named in honor of Michael L. Benedum who supplied the funds for the building, Benedum was constructed in 1959 and also held the Student Union for several years. The building went through expansions and renovations in 1970, 1971 and 2007.
The Goodwin Performing Arts Center (GPAC) is home to Waynesburg Univeristy’s theater program and hosts a variety of events in the arts, literature, and more. Construction on the GPAC was completed and dedicated in 1996, with another dedication in 2007. The performing arts center houses an auditorium that seats 250 people, a boxoffice, classroom, scene shop, and office space.
Robert’s chapel is the newest building on the Waynesburg University campus built in 2011. It stands as central icon for the school and is used frequently in admission advertisements. The building is consisting of three floors and houses both the chapel and Marsh center, which is a large classroom space used for general classes and large groups.
Eberly Library, named for the Eberly Foundation of Uniontown, PA, was built in 1952. It was loosely designed on the plan of the Carnegie Library-Museum in Pittsburgh. During the academic year, the library is open from 7:30 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Thursday, with reduced hours on the weekends. The library’s physical collection is composed of over 80,000 print books and over 130,000 online books, 2,200 CD sets, and more than 2,000 films on DVD. The library also provides access to full text articles in thousands of journals. There are over 150 desks, tables, and chairs throughout the library for students to sit and study at. It is currently located next to Buhl Hall.
Buhl Hall, the Humanities Building on the campus of Waynesburg University was dedicated on October 13, 1968. The building project was funded by the Buhl Foundation out of Pittsburgh, who were aware of the college’s need for a humanities building. It was built on the area between the Northward School and the Knot House, currently located next to Eberly Library. Buhl is now home to the English, History, Communications, Sociology, Psychology, Biblical Ministries and Criminal Justice Departments, containing offices for professors of those departments. It is also home to the McCance Auditorium that is located in the center of the building, perfect for large meetings, presentations and viewings.
The history of Martin hall at Waynesburg University. Martin Hall was build in the fall of 1965. Martin Hall is located at 100-198 E Wayne St, Waynesburg, PA 15370. Martin is centrally located on the East side of our campus providing a close walk to Stewart Science Hall and the Center for Research and Economic Development (CRED) building.
In the midst of Monument Park is the titular monument, named the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Soldiers and Sailors Monument is a Civil War Monument dedicated to those who had fought for the Army of The Potomac in the Civil War, with no known contributions to the Confederacy. It denotes and honors all four branches of the military at the time via 4 statues at the corners of the monument with a principal statue of Liberty, holding olive branches that denote the peace that all hoped for after the bloodiest fighting that ever took place on American soil.
Ritchie Park and West Park are a continuation of the plot of land that Monument Park is laid upon, running westward. Included points of interest are the Elaine Puglia Gazebo and the various metal signs divulging information on the parks themselves. Both parks offer plenty of options for relaxation for the students of the college and the surrounding community alike.
What was once a family home of A.B. Miller, as well as well as former Judge and Mrs. A. H. Sayers, is now the sight of the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse parking lot. The building faced Miller Hall across the Commons, this is the home that A. B. and Margaret Bell Miller built in the Italianate style about 1857 at the corner of Morris and Wayne Streets (Pastorius, 1). Before the home was demolished due to debilitated use, it was also used as a girl's dormitory purchased by Waynesburg University. While being used as a girl's dormitory, it was dubbed "Sayers Manor" and looked over a man-made lake which is no longer in existence.
Rudy Marisa Field House and the Recreation Center was built in 1935 and was getting upgrades till this day. The Rudy Marisa field house was named after a former head basketball coach and Director of Athletics Rudy Marisa. Located in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, in Greene County, The Goodwin House sits as one of Waynesburg University's recently restored buildings. The house was built in 1887 by Hudson D. Brock, a well-known individual in the community who passed away in 1920. James A. Goodwin then lived in the house as a child in the 1930s, who then became another prominent figure in the community. The house was acquired and restored by Waynesburg University in the early 2000s through the James A. and Mary S. Goodwin Trust. The house is now used for an array of events and as a guest house for alumni.
The Role the Paul R. Stewart Science Hall has played at Waynesburg is as critical as the influence and progress made by it's namesake, Dr. Paul R. "Prexy" Stewart. Science was Dr. Stewarts life and passion, specifically in the areas of mineralogy and archaeology, and Stewart Science Hall stands as a testimony and monument to the studies of this important figure in the history of Waynesburg University.
The Robert C. Wiley Armory in Waynesburg Pennsylvania has served a vital role in the surrounding community for over a century. During WWI, ithe region sent of many men, all members of Company K, 10th Pennsylvania Infantry to fight in France. The sacrifices made by these men will be long remembered in Waynesburg, Greene County and the Surrounding Communities.
The current John F. Wiley Stadium was officially dedicated on Oct. 26, 1995, and has since received numerous renovations, making it a premier athletic site. What was once Greene County’s fairground, had become a venue for a different form of entertainment – sports (Morris, 1). Over the course of more than 150 years, Waynesburg has enjoyed a bevy of athletic success, of which the football field’s namesake, John F. Wiley, was an integral part. The stadium was dedicated in 1998 and constructed for the 1999 season, honoring the school's former head football coach and trustee member. The structure stands five stories tall, and its bleachers include seatbacks, making it a premier college venue. In the summer of 2006, an artificial FieldTurf surface was installed at the stadium and plays hosts to all home football, men's soccer, women's soccer and lacrosse games (Reed, 4).

Waynesburg University is a four-year, Christian, liberal arts university that offers approximately 70 undergraduate degrees and some graduate degrees. Waynesburg College was chartered in 1850 and was one of the first institutions in the state to offer degrees to women alongside men. Waynesburg College became Waynesburg University in 2007 and continues to follow a mission that combines academics with faith and service.
