Tucked amongst the rolling hills of Virginia's hunt and wine country lies the estate of Paul & Bunny Mellon, Oak Spring Farm. Philanthropists and leaders in equestrian sports, horticulture and art collection, the dynamic couple amassed significant collections. Upon the death of Ms. Mellon in 2014 at age 103, the Oak Spring Foundation was formed. It has since recreated the Oak Spring home and famed grounds to the likeness of what Bunny Mellon created, even employing many lifelong staff of the estate as gardeners. Her talents as a garden designer and horticulturalists were recognized and honored by the American Horticultural Society with a Landscape Design Award and The Veitch Memorial Medal presented by The Royal Horticultural Society.1 The Oak Spring Library is itself world reknown as a depository of a large collection of significant books, illustrations, and manuscripts dating as early as the 13th century.

Paul Mellon, philanthropist, and equestrian, was especially proud of his horse breeding program at Oak Spring.
