Introduction
Text-to-speech Audio
You have now entered the “Orono triangle” of haunted dormitories! Continue this tour at your own risk!
Now we approach the building that might have been an inspiration for the hotel in Stephen King’s “The Shining” as the ballroom of the Estabrook Hall bears resemblance to the Overlook Hotel in the novel. Besides this, multiple students report sensing dark energies and unexplainable feelings of hands grabbing at them. The two major hot spots for activity are the first floor ballroom and the basement. In the basement people have reported the sounds of a dinner party (glasses clinking, talking, music) with no explanation of a source.

Now we approach the building that might have been an inspiration for the hotel in Stephen King’s “The Shining”. Although the original inspiration for this novel belongs to the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, the ballroom of the Estabrook Hall also bears resemblance to the Overlook Hotel in the novel.
The Estabrooke hall stands on the footprint of a previous building and at the time of its construction it was the biggest dormitory on campus.
