In this movie, Lora ran as fast as she could to go through this square named Bebelplatz to find the money. This square is formerly named Opernplatz, and it appeared in the film for a short amount of time. Lola spent only a little time crossing the square. However, the square is very large in fact, and it usually takes a long time to pass through it.

This open square was built in 1743. In Second World War, this square was largely destroyed by the air raids as well as the Battle of Berlin. It was then restored in the 1950s. The famous Nazi book burning ceremonies were held in the Bebelplatz in 1933. At that time, members of the Nazi Students' League, the SA, SS, and Hitler Youth groups gathered at this square. After the inflammatory speech made by Joseph Goebbels, they burned around 20,000 books. All the books that were considered as opposing to Nazism were burned. In this circumstance, there is now a monument standing in that place to memorize the book burning ceremony, and there was a quote from Heinrich Heine's plays that says“Where they burn books, they will also burn people”.
