John Mersereau Sr., one of Vestal's earliest pioneersm owned a large portion of Vestal along the Susquehanna River. His son John Mersereau, Jr. lived in this Federal style farmhouse that was built in approximately 1832. The farm, located in Twin Orchards, included a shad fishery on the south bank of the river. A 1926 real estate ad advertised the house as "...an exceptional opportunity to establish a paying tearoom or antique shop".
