Old Campground Cemetery, Sugartown
The Old Campground Cemetery, established in the 1820s, is one of the oldest cemeteries in the Southwest Louisiana region. The stop, on La. 112, is along the state-recognized "Myths and Legends Byway." Some of Sugartown's earliest settlers are buried there, beside the pristine Sugar Creek. The cemetery is on the National Register of Historic Places. There is a walking path at the site, as well as a replica of an old church. There are two sections, the New Campground Cemetery and the Old Campground Cemetery, which is at the end of the cemetery's road.
