Lightning - Rob Cleland. Earl “Lightning” Harvey was a Charleston personality known for his mathematical talent. Harvey was even featured in Ripley’s Believe it Or Not in 1936 thanks to his skills. This image is based on a picture of Harvey captured by J. Waters shortly before Harvey’s death in 1989.

This tour serves as a virtual catalogue of the StreetWorks public art display. This outdoor gallery extended for over a mile along Washington Street East. Included works were vinyl on metal and affixed to lampposts. The pieces were installed from 2012 until 2020 and can no longer be viewed in person. This tour mirrors a tour by Charleston's Office of Public Art and was made with the office's cooperation. To learn more visit: http://publicartcharleston.org/.
